Al Latorre paints in oils on canvas, his art represents his past, present, and merely subjects that he is drawn to such as landscapes and seascapes from Virginia and other places he has resided. Although by trade he was a Graphic Designer, and had formal training in Visual Communications from Northeastern University, Al is self-taught in oil painting, and has been blessed with an eye to paint pleasing, peaceful scenes we can all relate to. He has been painting for over 20 years primarily in oils and watercolors.
Al Latorre was born and raised in the Panama Canal Zone and is fluent in English and Spanish.
Al is a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge from the military he focused his studies and career in Graphic Designs in support of the US Government for 25 plus years, retiring in 2013.
For the last four years Al has been displaying his artwork throughout Virginia at different venues and events and currently displays artwork at Ocean Art Gallery, Virginia Beach
He has received an Honorable Mention from the Ocean View, Virginia Beach art show (2016) and Second Place from the Yorktown, Virginia, Art on the River show (2017). He was a member of the Chesapeake Bay Art Association. Al was featured in a show in Newport News, Virginia to commemorate Ella Fitzgerald and was later selected to have his piece shown at their sister gallery in China.
